Software Engineer


The main purpose

We are seeking an R&D Software engineer to be an integral part of a talented team of Software Engineers. In your role you will be responsible for the technical analysis and development of software which is improving the lives of patients by creating better surgical outcomes.
Within the R&D team every member takes ownership of their work and is involved in every part of the development. From scoping the feature over architectural design to the actual programming and eventual testing and maintaining of the code.


The main purpose

  • Writing code in modern C++ and Python that runs on our state-of-the-art PET-CT scanner, but also for all supporting applications.
  • End-to-end development from functional and technical analysis, to development, testing and deployment of your newly developed features.
  • Cooperating across departments with our product & applications and clinical team to translate our user needs into technically feasible solutions.
  • Maintaining and supporting our software according to feedback from our users.
  • Continuous improvement of the quality of our codebase through well-chosen refactoring.


The things you do.

  • Work with the following technologies on a daily basis: modern C++, Qt, Linux, Docker, Rust, git, CMake.
  • Working in a small scrum team applying all best practices in an agile way.
  • Writing scalable and maintainable code that allows for automated testing.
  • Writing unit, integration and system tests to reduce the amount of manual testing of our code.
  • Ownership of our backend code.


The things you can or have


  • Master’s in software engineering or comparable through experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in in this position
  • Excellent feeling for software design and architecture
  • Excellent understanding of object-oriented programming using modern C++ and Qt
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Python
  • Basic understanding of Docker
  • You are familiar with a Linux environment
  • You have a passion for software development
  • You have the basic understanding of today’s best practices in software development (i.e. version control, debugging/profiling, continuous integration, code reviews, …).
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

  • Knowledge of the IEC 62304 Medical Device software standard is a plus
  • Knowledge of Dutch
